Supporting Buckingham Group over 9 months in London
CAN supported the construction of the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by installing 810 roof cassettes as part of its distinctive roof structure. Careful planning and specialist access techniques enabled the programme to progress safely within a busy, fast-paced construction environment.
In 2018, CAN were requested to undertake the installation of 810 14m x 2m roof metal cassettes, each weighing approximately 2 tonnes, to the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The revolutionary roof design required the metal cassettes, which were lifted in by tower cranes, to be installed on a ‘cable net’ supported by an outer and inner compression ring. Programme constraints necessitated 24/7 working to complete the works.
Site constraints included working on an extremely busy construction site, with minimum laydown areas for the location of roof cassettes. Coordinated delivery programmes from offsite storage areas were critical.
CAN used a combination of rope access and fall restraint techniques to ensure all required work locations could be reached safely and efficiently.
