Following the failure of the render to the elevations of two high rise blocks, Wheatly Group requested CAN Structures Ltd design and install a containment system which would prevent the now exposed insulation from falling from the buildings.

A net system was designed in accordance to BS 8411:2019 Safety Nets on construction sites and other works – Code of Practice. The designed system was capable of containing the exposed insulation and withstanding the anticipated wind loadings.

CAN technicians used industrial rope access techniques to access the façade and lift the net into position. Once in position the net was secured to the façade using specified fixings installed at regular centres into the concrete substrate beneath the insulation.
