CAN was requested to assist with the window replacement scheme to Somerton House and particularly to provide access to and encapsulation of the windows during replacement. CAN designed, built and installed custom habitat containment systems using CAN-Span, a lightweight modular access platform.

Each habitat was rigged from the flat roofs using a set of cantilevered arms and tirfor winches ensuring that the works could be undertaken whilst providing protection of the communal areas below.

The habitats provided a stable working platform and containment system for the window replacement program. CAN technicians relocated the habitats around the building as required, and provided external assistance to the window fitters, manipulating the windows during replacement and undertaking external frame fixing and sealant installation.
