CAN was requested to undertake a number of essential, but difficult to access, maintenance tasks to Pont-y Ddraig. The works included the installation of new electrical feed cables to the under-bridge lights and the re-charging of the grease cartridges that lubricate the pulley bearings.

CAN technicians used standard industrial rope access and aid climbing techniques to access the required work locations. The use of a bridge sentry, to control the deck level cordon and assist with rigging tasks, enabled the bridge to remain upon to pedestrians during the course of the works and minimise disruption.
