CAN Structures was requested to undertake an inspection of the structural steelwork to the each of the 12 no. cells to the Cooling Tower to Medway Power Station to identify the extent of corrosion to the steel members.
Due to the remote nature of the proposed worksite, a detailed rescue plan was developed to ensure that casualty evacuation could be undertaken in a prompt and timely fashion. Furthermore, a rig for rescue approach was employed for all access work.
The CAN inspection identified extensive corrosion to the structural steelwork and a number of cladding failures to the cell walls, and enabled the client to program a series of targeted remedial works.
