• King George V - Flood Barrier

The Environment Agency inspects all flood defences in London and the Thames estuary at least annually and in most cases twice a year.

These detailed engineering and structural investigations to establish the condition of (life of the corrosion protection systems and the integrity of the welded and bolted connections) tidal flood defences often require difficult access and confined space working, as was the case with the King George V floodgate.

CAN Structures were requested to undertake detailed risk assessments and develop safe systems of work to enable the required entry and inspection of the King George V Floodgate, by third party inspectors.

CAN provided the required site specific assessment and the site based confined space rescue team including all necessary confined space and rescue equipment.
