Redrow Homes required a solution to allow them to maximise the available footprint for this new housing development site. In order to achieve this, they sought a solution that would allow the surrounding 500m long perimeter slope to be cut back and thus steepened.
CAN’s design afforded the most cost effective solution to both steepen the slope and give the largest site footprint possible.
CAN used 1250 soil nails, 45 inclined drains along with 6500m2 of Geobrugg Deltax G82 mesh overlaid with CocoNet 800 erosion matting to complete the works.
CAN worked alongside the earthworks contractor as the faces needed to be cut in phases, to ensure that excavated slopes were not left exposed prior to stabilisation.
Lastly hydraseeding was employed to encourage rapid re-establishment of vegetation where conventional landscaping methods were not possible, quickly providing for a more natural looking finish to the site.
