CAN has successfully designed and undertaken a programme of maintenance and additional slope and rock stabilisation works at the Waitrose distribution centre in Coulsdon, South London.
The project was awarded by Genco, the facilities management company for Waitrose, following CAN’s initial geotechnical inspection of the site and the geotechnical stabilisation work undertaken by a previous contractor, which recommended the maintenance and additional works including the design the remedial measures.
CAN developed the specification and undertook works to make the existing rock netting solution safe, whilst also stabilising other identified areas. Works included de-vegetation and scaling of the face, followed by clearing fallen rock debris from the existing rock netting system. Two areas of the rock face identified as high risk saw 700m2 additional rock netting installed (mix of Geobrugg Deltax and Maccaferri DT rock netting) along with 8no, 3m-long spot bolts and infilling a 0.54m3 void to stabilise discrete rock features.
The geotechnical inspection at the site was performed late 2017. CAN has only recently undertaken the works, which were completely successfully, on-time and to the satisfaction of the client.
