Working with Tarmac for 3 months in Kent
CAN carried out the refurbishment of the access staircase at Tarmac’s Bulk Storage Facility at Northfleet Depot, restoring the protective coating system to the structural steelwork.
In 2017, CAN was requested to undertake the redecoration of the steelwork to the access staircase to the Bulk Storage Facility at Tarmac’s Northfleet Depot.
Using a combination of industrial rope access techniques supported with CAN-Span CAN technicians were able to access all elements of the structure and undertake the specified refurbishment.
The structure’s location, adjacent to the Thames, meant the ambient conditions were effectively maritime. As such, a detailed inspection and testing plan (ITP) was implemented to record daily temperatures, paint batches, surface preparation standards (ST2), thickness coatings of paint etc. An independent paint inspector monitored site works throughout the course of the project.
On completion of the refurbishment of the structural steel, the client requested the top section of the structure be clad; CAN was subsequently instructed to complete the further works.
