Navigator Terminals – Tank Cleaning
Back to Case Studies

Supporting Navigator Terminals Thames over 6 weeks in West Thurrock

Regular maintenance is essential to keeping major industrial facilities operating safely and efficiently. At Navigator Terminals, CAN carried out specialist cleaning works to the site’s storage tanks, delivering the project while supporting the continued operation of the terminal.

Navigator Terminals Thames Limited is classified under the Control of Major Accident Hazard (CoMAH) regulations as an ‘upper tier establishment’.

Since 2019, Navigator Terminals has employed CAN to carry out the cleaning of the UK’s largest bulk petrochemical storage tanks, with over 1.28 million cubic metres of storage on site.

CAN technicians worked in a coordinated manner to allow tanks to be filled and emptied with minimal interference to ongoing site operations.

The CAN team used industrial rope access techniques to access the roof and sides of the storage tanks and undertook the cleaning operation using a superheated water cleaning system without disrupting the day-to-day operations of the site.
