Working with Ainsworth Civils and Engineering for 1 Week in Medway, Kent
Working in a remote and challenging environment, CAN inspected the structural steelwork within the cooling tower at Medway Power Station. The findings gave the client a clear picture of the structure’s condition, helping to prioritise future maintenance and repairs.
CAN Structures was requested to undertake an inspection of the structural steelwork to the each of the 12 cells to the Cooling Tower to Medway Power Station to identify the extent of corrosion to the steel members.
Due to the remote nature of the proposed worksite, a detailed rescue plan was developed to ensure that casualty evacuation could be undertaken in a prompt and timely fashion should the need arise. Furthermore, a rig-for-rescue approach was employed for all access work.
CAN’s inspection identified extensive corrosion to the structural steelwork as well as a number of cladding failures to the cell walls. The report provided to the client enabled them to program a series of targeted remedial works to address the defects.
