Scaffolding above the 50m high waste collection pit not being possible CAN was brought in to assist the client in getting around the obvious access difficulties in installing the high level deluge, smoke detection and lighting systems on this large new build project.
CAN used a variety of rope access techniques including horizontal aid climbing, 3:1 hauling systems and use of CAN-Span (lightweight cradle system) to carry out the installation.
The use of rope access afforded huge savings financially, time-wise and also in terms of reducing disruption to other trades on site. This was particularly relevant given the tight timescales to get the facility open in readiness for the first scheduled deliveries.
